Fair price- Rating 4/5
I have stayed here for a few times , rooms are spacious for me the pillows really need replacing as they are flat . Fortunately when a lone traveller you can use all the pillows but if I was staying as a couple then I wouldn’t be so happy . Overall I feel it’s value for money

Comfortable and good value for money- Rating 4/5
The house is beautiful with ornate chairs and tables for summer time.Doreen was helpful when we arrived. The large four poster bed is spectacular and works well with the building.Bedding was immaculate and plenty of hot water.Tea and coffee got topped up whilst we stayed. Each morning we had a brown paper bag of breakfast goodies which was fun start to the day and delicious contents.

Great value for money! - Rating 5/5
I was given a fantastic room with a four-poster bed and a huge ensuite. It's a short walk into the town centre for the restaurants and bars. In the morning, there was a bag outside of my room full of breakfast goodies. It's a great place, and Doreen is a wonderful hostess.

Good value for money - Rating 4/5
I thought the Hopbine was good value for money. We looked at other hotels in Hereford and they were all significantly more expensive. The hotel looks a little tired but it was clean and the bed was comfy. It was in a quiet position convenient for Hereford so it suited us. We got a bit lost trying to find it and the owner was really friendly and helpful in getting us to the front door.

Great price and nice breakfast- Rating 4/5
The place itself is very tired, dated and needs a renovation, however, the price reflects this and in a beautiful spot. The breakfast we got was lovely a good variety in the bag. Bed was comfortable and you got what you paid for and we paid £50 so can’t complain!

Comfy and cosy. Felt very safe here- Rating 4/5
Appreciated the early check in and very accommodating host - I arrived even earlier after my journey than planned.Comfy, easy going, and really quiet place. Felt very safe as a lone female traveller and someone who experiences sensory overwhelm. (The host was kind enough to put me in a room not near the doors when I mentioned this).Enjoyed hearing the birds through my window and the grassy window out of the back. Spacious for a single room too. I was warm and could use the heater if needed.Well located for the person seeking somewhere near amenities but who doesn't want to be surrounded by bustle. The house needs a little love in places but I don't want this to detract from me saying I would happily stay here again.Herefordshire is wonderful for nature lovers and this place is well located for exploring.

Unique - Rating 4/5
Hopbine House is ideal for us as it is very close to our family and we can walk to their house. The original building and furnishings are amazing and the spa bath a joy. The breakfasts are extremely good value. The structures need some TLC . Overall comfortable and definitely unique.

A beautiful relaxing night- Rating 5/5
Our stay at Hopbine was absolutely wonderful. I had just finished a show at the Court Yard Theatre nearby and had booked just to put my head down before the 3 hour drive back up north, and this room and service was above and beyond what I expected. Checked in at 22:30 and was greeted by the lovely Doreen who showed us to our amazing room, a large double AND two large twin beds (sofa beds, but the comfiest sofa beds ever, we actually just fell asleep there we were so cosy and comfortable) and the packed breakfast in the morning set us right for the journey home. Thank you Hopbine!

Nice and comfy - Rating 5/5
Room was spacious and clean comfy and warm but it needed airing before we arrived. There's no trickle vents or extractor in bathroom so it was a bit stale for our visit.Breakfast was a bag of goodies which I enjoyed but would have liked to be informed before I booked.Otherwise bed was very comfortable and settee/single bed was very good too.Just one more thing there should have been hooks on doors to hang coats and towels xx

We stayed at The Hopbine for two nights, the owner was welcoming and lovely. The room was beautifully furnished and clean.A continental breakfast was delivered in a bag to the room each day which was delicious and definitely well received! The location made for a fantastic base if you don’t mind a slight walk to town, which we welcomed, or have a love of climbing as there is a centre right around the corner!Would definitely stay again if we felt the call to Hereford.

Room we had was basic ,which is okay for the price but think we were put in wrong room as computer detail said room8 and we were in room 5 and wonder if that was why it was VERY COLD ,kept coat and gloves on till 10.pm wonder if room 8 had been warmed up for visitors ? not to worry it was only one night and as I say clean and tidy. Probably better in the summer ,seeing the squirrels outside the door was entertaining . best wishes

Charming B&B - Rating 4/5
We have stayed at Hopbine house twice now and have not been disappointed with the character of the place, in keeping with the outside old country house, the inside rooms have been furnished to compliment the age and feel of the building. We love it, we were a bit disappointed to find that they are still not providing a proper breakfast instead opting for a bag at your door, fitting during lockdown but surely we can now revert back to some normality. This would have given it the five star rating it deserves.

Great Hotel for a short stay. - Rating 5/5
Stayed for just one night with my little boy.Had to bring a travel cot as none was provided by the hotel but I was told in advance of my stay.Lots of car parking on site, great breakfast.Reception is clearly sign posted so you know where you are going and pinpad entry is straightforward and talked through how to get your room key etc.Very quiet so had a good night sleep! Clean and the room I stayed in very good size I would stay again with my child as it is close to family and easy access to Hereford city centre and shops.Staff were friendly on the phone and nothing was too much trouble.

I had a comfortable night, although being on my own it was all a bit soulless! The room was very clean. The breakfast catered well for my diabetes and I was most grateful for what I was provided with.If I am looking for B and B in Hereford at a future date, I would gladly come again.Although only from 45 miles up the road, it saved me the pressure of driving home after a longish day, and then being back at the Cathedral for rehearsal by 8.45am, so staying over was a real boon. Thanks for all the facilities.

We stayed one night in room 4 and enjoyed our visit very much. The 4 poster bed was comfortable , the bath and shower room large and the quiet view of the garden was nice. There is an excellent pub with good food, The Secret Garden , only 13 minutes walk away. The reasonable cost of a stay here is set about right.Might I suggest that the breakfast meal soon returns to the dining area now that covid restrictions are over.

we always stop at the Hopbine when in the area and would recommend to others. It is peaceful and has good grounds and close to Hereford for shopping.Noticed there were some repairs that are needed though e.g. no plug for sink and loose tap.I would have liked more choice of drinks eg Hot Chocolate for an evening drink. We did miss the cooked breakfast but due to the current climate I understand why the dining area was not open.A cold breakfast in a carrier bag was provided handing on your door in the morning. Staff always friendly and are around if you need anything.

I have reviewed on booking.com. Nevertheless see below.Overall the rooms were comfortable. Lovely double beds and very comfortable. A good telly with all channels. The tea/coffee making facilities were good but the cups could be larger or small mugs. A decent kettle that is not always the case. Plenty of hot water. The only negative was the mastic around the top and bottom of the bath. Not a nice look.

I enjoyed my night at Hopbine house which was full of character.A delightful room with comfortable bed. Breakfast was skilfully masterminded by one member of staff who cooked and served a delicious breakfast for 9 guests who all appeared at the same time! Lovely!- Rating 4/5
This b&b is Devon such lovely grounds, and our room had its own outside seating area which I was not expecting! The addition of a spa bath was also well received. The grounds provided us the perfect space for some family quality time, we played badminton, picked conkers & apples, and watched frogs in the bush areas. We put our phones down and had a lovely time soaking in the hotel and what it provided! Lovely breakfast too! Unfortunately it was only for 2 days but we will be sure to return! If I could pick on anything it would be the the bath surroundings and the spa water jets need a little more attention when cleaning. Other than that the place was a dream!

Dated but comfortable. - Rating 5/5
Comfortable but a little dated...bathromm needed an overhaul, bath was small and the Jacuzzi didn't work, sealant around the shower/bath was dirty and was not preventing the water from going onto the floor whilst showering.. Doreen the landlady is wonderful and the breakfast very nice. There were no glasses in the room for either brushing teeth or for drinks by the bed. Locks on the door of our bedroom (Room 5) were broken and the door handle had been snapped off.

Perfect - Rating 5/5
We stayed at the Hopbine for one night just before Christmas. We had a little difficulty finding the place, as our sat'nav wasn´t working properly, but we phoned the hotel and were given clear directions. There was no problem parking, and it the guest house, decorated for Christmas, seemed very welcoming on a December night. Our room was on the ground floor. It was warm, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom perfectly adequate, with a selection of toiletries provided. Breakfast next morning was fine, and cheerfully served. The house itself is characterful and pleasant. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Ok - a place to rest at night. - Rating 4/5
The room was comfortable. There was a bath which we greatly appreciate. There was ample paking also which is a definite need for us.There was also tea or coffee in the room which is most helpful. However it is nice to be able to ask for more milk from someone. We did this by using our phone - which we had to do many times to even access the bed and breakfast (which is in theory using up more of our money). Also we needed glasses of water - there was no provision of glasses so we had to get cups belonging to another room to facilitate this. Also we stated that for breakfast we request no pork. There were only pork sausages on offer and only overcooked scrambled egg - which I hate.As it was such a small guest house I didnt feel at ease to ask if they would mind to make some eggs for us that were not scrambled. She had a lot of waste from other people not eating all that she had cooked as it was.So I felt for her.

Lovely guest house- Rating 4/5
I stayed here as part of a group of 10 people to attend a wedding nearby. I had a lovely experience here and great value for the price paid including a good choice for breakfast (I especially enjoyed the fried bread!). Doreen was lovely and very accommodating for us (not to mention absolutely adorable!!). Some reviews mention staff being rude, this was definitely not the case for us. The rooms were quirky and the four poster bedand dressing table was a nice touch. Some reviews are quite critical - yes there is the odd crack here and there and the mattresses in the single beds in the family room weren't the best I have slept in (I can't speak for the others), but for the price it was definitely sufficient for me and I really liked the appearance and rustic feel of the place. The heaters were good to heat up the room (I wasn't comfortable leaving them on while we were at the wedding but they warmed up quickly when we got back). I was a little worried after reading the reviews that we may not be able to get into the accommodation, and whilst there was a small delay in the rooms being ready for us Doreen was accommodating in other ways and we still had ample time to get ready for the wedding. Thank you Doreen for a lovely stay

Beautiful- Rating 5/5
The lady who owns this is wonderful, immediate service and so kind. There was a mix up with our booking but she sorted it immediately and still made sure we had a wonderful stay with breakfast included. Room was a little cold for me, but my partner prefers that. Another couple in another room felt a little cold (which is normal with a big building) but she provided extra heating and blankets for them.

Lovely B&b on old Roman road within short car ddrive to town centre. Mature grounds with individual seating area adjescent to each room. Good breakfast with ample choice for all pallets. Checked in via intercom but would have preferred human interface after long journey. Room was nice but could do with small amount of maintenance and a more comprehensive clean as there was dust and cobwebs in harder to reach areas. Overall though very pleased and would stay again.

Second time I’ve stayed here and won’t be the last. Beautiful room with four poster bed and jacuzzi which I thoroughly enjoyed after a days work. The bed was so comfortable and as I only eat cereal and juice for breakfast I couldn’t complain but there are cooked breakfast items available if you want them. People complain about no owner presence but to be honest all I want is access to my room and a good night sleep, for what you pay this is ideal. Also as a smoker I did appreciate the seating area outside my french doors and the ashtrays, as we aren’t all non smokers. I’ll definitely be back!

The Hopbine - Rating 4/5
I was a married man travelling alone (No selection)A small problem with getting access, I was waiting at the door and reception for some while.Eventually I was shown to my room and very kindly treated by being loaned a mobile phone overnight. (I had had a stressful journey and ran the battery down).I found the room and bathroom adequate, however the bed was Very comfortable. The owner found a new TV controller for the room.Breakfast - was VERY good and the staff helpful. The buffet was well laid out with all the food and drink accessible. I asked about buses as I was due at the hospital and all my questions were answered.Apart from there being no light over the hand basin, I was happy to stay at Hopbine House. As a disabled person I SHOULD have asked for a bathroom with a shower as it proved difficult with the bath.(MY fault)

Great Stay- Rating 4/5
Me and my partner stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, we both where in awe by the 4 poster bed, it was so comfy, the only thing that could have been improved was the pillows, but that is personal preference. The bathroom facilities where great, however the floor was like an ice ring when wet, so I would advise that you place a towel down.we never made it to breakfast either mornings as we slept too late.the locks on the door weren't the easiest thing to lock and unlock. But overall it was a great stay and lovely room, would definitely recommend it.

Overnight Stay - Rating 4/5
We stayed for one night at the Hopbine in June 2019. We had to amend our original booking as our plans changed, but the hotel was able to accommodate us. The hotel was easy to find, but because traffic was bad we arrived late and the front door was locked. We made a call to the owner who was extremely helpful. We were given the code to the front door and found our room easily. The room was large and interesting - not modern and bland. We had a big, four-poster bed which was lovely. It was a typical, old house - creaky floorboards, spiders lurking between the beams in high ceilings which all added to the charm and character. The room was clean, fresh and warm and the grounds were lovely. The owner continued to be helpful and friendly throughout our stay.Breakfast in the morning was outstanding - hot, plentiful and very tasty. We would not hesitate to return here and have been recommending it to our friends.

Comfortable stay with excellent breakfast!- Rating 4/5
It was an unfortunate start to our stay to find difficulty in immediate access to the establishment and thus our superior family room. The phone contact/keypad system is a good idea, but we were told a certain room number when clearly that room was not ours as it only had a double bed in it, but we are a family of four! (children aged 13&9). We then had to wait some considerable time for owner to arrive to allocate us to 'our' room, which was possibly an ordinary family room rather than superior! However, though this was a frustratingstart to our stay, we did enjoy our time spent at 'The Hopbine'. The staff were friendly & helpful, the room met our needs, though the bathroom rather small & in need of up-grading & the excellent breakfast choices provided good value for money. Great value for us when on a budget! Thank you.

Ideal place to staff if attending a Lyde Court function! - Rating 4/5
Although the check in procedure was unusual, it functioned well and we were impressed with out room (R6). The four poster was comfy with lovely bedding, the mirror was enormous which helped in getting our wedding togs on, and the bathroom was really well appointed with a jet spa bath. Maintenance fixed the broken shower hanger without our prompting but missed the HUGE spider nesting at the top of the shower screen hinge!! Lol.We have already recommended The Hopbine to friends because it is reasonably priced, well placed for travellers from the north and the breakfasts are just perfect. Thanks for a lovely couple of nights.

What a find! - Rating 4/5
My husband and I stayed in this lovely, well kept B&B on Sep 27th 2013. On seeing our room we were pleasantly surprised. We had a beautiful four poster bed and the room was to a high standard. We were able to come and go as we pleased. A really nice touch was we actually had a key! Not an electronic one we are all so used to having. In the morning we went into the dining area where there was a choice of cereals and spreads or a traditional English breakfast, we were even asked how we would like our eggs! (a great touch!). The ladies were so helpful and friendly too.We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this lovely B&B. What a great find and superb price!

The new rooms - Rating 5/5
My son and his partner had one room and I had the other room which had been refurbished. They are beautiful, four-poster beds comfortable chairs. BEAUTIFUL. See you next year.

14th July 2012 - Rating 4/5
Very nice location, freindly welcome. Therooms are very spacious and clean. Slight 'musty' smell in the room and no shower, only a bath. But on the whole, very good value for money. Also, breakfast could do with being served after nine..(bit early on a sunday after a party..!)

Beautiful - Rating 5/5
Really lovely, warm cosy room with friendly staff and inviting communal areas at an affordable price. Clean sheets, towels and toiletries with a kettle and mugs for yea. Room included en-suite however there was a bath only, no shower, which wasn't too much of a problem for us.

Great Value, great room - Rating 4/5
We only stayed for one night following a trip to the races but wished we had longer.Room 6 was freshly decorated, fabulous comfy four poster bed and unexpected surprose of a jaccuzi bath.Lovley poached eggs for breakfast and a pleasant informal atmosphere. I have no idea what the other rooms are like but if this refurbishment continues along the same lines you will be impressed especially with the resonable price.

Hopbine (1 night) - Rating 4/5
Very happy with the accommodation. Spacious room with good facilities. Clean and tidy. Did not have opportunity to use outdoor seating as only stayed one night. Good, friendly service.

Good Value for Money - Rating 4/5
It may be considered a bit of a work in progress, and possibly a little dated, however the owner and staff were very friendly and efficient throughout our stay. We understand the comment on the web site about not always having someone to greet in person on arrival but can state in our opinion it is absolutely not necessary with the owner being instantly contactable. The room was very clean and large with all wood furniture which does not date. The water in the hand basin was a little slow in coming through but the shower was okBreakfast was ok selection for all tastes with a good range of cereals, yogurt, etc proper freshly cooked bacon, eggs , hot toast (with choice of marmalades) etc with only the sausage not to my taste. The atmosphere at breakfast appeared relaxed amongst others staying over with no moaning!Even a note as to the strength of wi fi reception in different rooms so i knew what to expect from my i phoneYes we would go back
